I can't agree more. Parts are far cheaper than labor cost. While you are at it replace all parts that are subject to problems in the next year or two, especially the parts that are hard to get to.

You need to understand the stock wasserboxer's capability. When I drive my Passat I tend to want to follow the traffic. Regardless I want to or not I almost always drive near 80 MPH at 3000 RPM. But when I drive my vanagons I need to remind myself that I should keep a low profile and drive only at 65 MPH, 45 or 50 MPH when climbing hills. That way I made many 600 miles per day trips without problems. I had one 10 day vacation trip that logged 5000 plus miles.
