Hey lets get silly and have some fun. Lets ay a Syncro Westy does 16 mpg at say 65-70 steady highway. 2 of them would be a combined 8 mpg. So, my 39 foot, 25,000 pound (empty) motor home pulling the Syncro Westy at 8 mpg is a real bargain. Actually 7.5 towing and 8-8.5 solo is more realistic. How about a class 8 truck with total weight of 80,000 pounds still doing 5-7?

Chevy Vans with small blocks can do 15 and better. My brother years ago had a Suburban with 350 that did 16 going down to Florida. Only did 9 pulling an antique car back home.

Wind resistance and speed really seem to be the base factors on highway fuel economy. Engine choices and gearing have some effect and then there is the Diesel option. My current Diesel motor home really gets the same mileage as my last gas one. Yes it weighs more and is longer, but it seems the wind resistance is the major factor.

Dennis
