All the same, I think. I did this job by going in with an angle grinder and removing all the flaked and damaged glass. Then I went in behind the bumper with four layers of glass mat (I presume this is the kit you were talking about at the FLAPS), then opened the front out with the angle grinder so I would not be bondo-ing a slot, but a wider channel. I finished that off in the usual way and primed and painted.
