Subject: Replacing left rear side window
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Jack,

I just finished installing the windows on my '87 Westy after painting it. I was able to install that left rear window with the cabinet in place, but it may be difficult. I also used the gasket without the chrome strip. I have long thin arms which helped a lot. The other thing I did was to put the cords in the gasket so that they were overlapped at the front and rear sides of the window, not the usual top and bottom. That way you can start the install at the rear part of the window and work your way forward. It took two tries with a friend but in the end it got done without too much hassle. MUCH less hassle than taking out that cabinet. Since I have a/c I'd have to deal with taking it out enough to get that cabinet out and that appeared to be a bigger PITA to me.

I'd certainly give it a shot.

Good luck. :-)

I have an 84 Westy, which I have pulled all the glass to restore and paint. My question is, as I replace my side window glass, will I need to remove my rear cabinet in order to re-install the window?

Or is there a way to install the window glass without cabinet removal?

I am using the euro style window seals, without the chrome piping.

Thanks!!!

Winding down to the final week! And looking good. My 84 Wolfie will soon be 110%
