If you have a late model westy worth $15k you may find justification for a subi at another $9k. But many of them will still continue to run with wbx. I agree that more power is admirable. But a decison for a conversion has to base on many things not just oh I like that kind of power.

My 83 and 84 are already pretty old. If parts become hard to find I will sell them to those who want to convert. It is definitely foolish trying to hang on to something you should let go no matter how much you liked it. Things come and go. You lose nothing. I think more likely than not they will end up in a junk yard. More power for my clunker Vanagons? Unless I am really crasy!!! If I had a 1990 syncro westy I will sell it, take the good money and run. I might spend a little portion of it for an 83.5 westy if I really like to camp in a westy.

Yes, WXB will be history sooner or later. Let them go into history and save the money for new toys to come. Before that happens just enjoy as they are now seems to be just right for me.
