Yes, I realized that, but plumb forgot to address that. I was worried about the big job of rear brakes turning into a HUGE job, because of the unneccessary removal of the axle nut. I blame my childrens' ADD.

And as to the grease cap question, I have used, with considerable success, an 18" set of Channellocks, set to the raised rim at the rear of the cap. Pull out, and change your grip point by 90 degrees every couple of tugs. It will loosen the most stubborn dust cap. Maybe not instantly, but it won't be long before you can see that stupid, one-use-only, retainer nut...
