Most hoses that break are very close to the engine, any installer should
replace them wile doing such a job (rebuilt, re-seal or semi-rebuilt
engine). Hose cost nothing, now, it will cost you a lot to have your van
back on the road.
I now don't even ask cutomers if they want new hoses, i just change them and
charge them, if they have a problem with that i just reply to what they told
me fisrt... make my van as reliable as possbile...
I'm sure it was the right head front hose...
You want a Subi, make sure to deal with a good installer and conversion
companies... i see a lot of crappy conversion out there, including other
engine than Subi.
The do it yourself kit is NOT for everyone, believe me!
So work hard my friend and gather some money if you want a Subi.
When well built and install, this engine in a Westy is pure magic.
The 2.2 is OK, the 2.5 is perfect, the SVX in just to much.
Anyway, VW engine for my personal use is in the coffin, RIP!!! those won't
get you very far. If they do, your just plain lucky. Sorry, i will
reformulate, it's everything around the engine who kill this one.
I have been helping Hans from vanaru lately for a few Subaru conversion in
Canada... it's an another world my friend.
Now, sadly, back to my VERY rusty and oily wasser engine.
Cheers, Ben

Assateague Island July 4 a hose split, she overheated and blew her new heads
out 1200 miles after they were rebuilt by an experienced shop. We're
basically looking for advice on whether to have the heads re-done within a
month or park her for?the?9?months until we save enough cabbage to put a
subie in (we could transfer a 2.2 from our other car). Altho we do minor
jobs, we're not mechanically-inclined. Thoughts?
