well i guess part of the point is that gas is not going to drop to a dollar a gallon. but the fact that the smart car, and its kin, which i saw a gazillion of in france where even among the mini cars of europe it is still small, is not a good candidate for the US market is much more of an indictment of the US than it is of the car. we here in the USA dont need that kind of fuel efficiency - we have the DoD. cheers monte
