You will have to remove the pushrod tube in order to take the lifter out. This may sound easy but removing a pushrod tube is very challenging to me. It is very tight. It is impossible to compress it by hand to remove. Even if you can remove it by any means it will become too loose when you put it back.

Try to fill engine oil to the max on the oil dip stick. It gives you a better chance to pump pup the lifter. You can drain some oil afterwards if you don't like the oil to be at the max.
