Hey all Used to have a periodically noisy lifter, would quiet down after a bit of driving. Now the rattle is more pronounced and constant, even after the attempt described in the subject line. The Big Green Book says the hydraulic section of the pushrod/lifter assy can be removed with engine not removed and minor disassembly. Does this mean you can snake the lifter out through the pushrod tube? Havent held one in my hand so I cant tell if they are too big to fit the ID of the pushrod tube.
Can I do deeper diagnosis with a compression/leakdown test, or by measuring valve adjuster clearance? I just had a GoWesty automatic transmission put in so would appreciate suggestions <= 1 kilobuck. I want to keep my wife and my van, have already said goodbye to the headroom on my visa card. She is using the '95 volvo 850 as a reliability comparison. Thanks in advance Robert 90 MV |
