I have a 90 Westy and would love to get my AC to the 34 degree F level. David, when you get to that level how hot was the temp outside the van? Do you use a special gauge to measure the temp and where do you place it? What is considered normal? (would love to hear from others) do you measure normal by the degree difference from the outside?

I'm close to giving up on my AC and look at alternatives. Thanks

The underlying cause for the chain of failures was an increase in resistance due to corroded contacts. My mechanic and I corrected this problem by replacing a few corroded ring wire connectors. You may also want to check the resistor up front to make sure the condenser/cooling fan works on both speeds-its behind the driver's side headlight bucket. I'm still working with a slight leak (o-ring replacement related) on the low side condenser connection but otherwise have been chilling down as cool as 34 deg. F. Good luck.
