Subject:      propane rebuild and safety

I just fitted my old propane tank with new valves and new regulator.  I'm
ready to hang it back on the van, but I'm a little concerned about safety.
The fill valve is manual in place of the old auto stop valve.  Is this a
safe way to go?  Can this newly valved tank handle expansion of the
propane?  Did the old fill valve and or regulator have some kind of relief
valve for increased pressure?  I read an archived post that seemed to
suggest that this config. could not handle expansion and posed a safety
risk.
