I was going to join the Procrastinators of America but I put it off so long I lost the address. ;) Anyway, Yesterday on my stock '85 poptop canvas, I installed the glue in replacement screen that Jonce Fancher offers: http://fanchers.com/223/Screen%20Replacement.htm and I'm really impressed. The materials, fit, and finish are excellent! Installation was straight forward and the result is super! As to the adhesive that comes with the kit, I used some of it last summer to glue a seam, which is at a stress point, in the top of my Cox flop-top trailer. We used it for camping last year and this year the top has been up since early May. That seam still looks like it was sewn. I'd say that if it will glue a seam in a stressed canvas top, it should hold the non-stressed Westy screen in a lot longer than the OEM canvas will last. For those with '76~'87 OEM canvas who have torn screens, I highly recommend it. Jonce also offers other goodies for our buses. See: http://fanchers.com/59/VW%20Stuff.htm Mike Houlton, Maine |
