We second the vote for autotrader.com. That is how we purchased our current 88 Westy. It had only 76,000 original miles (do a Carfax report!) and was in great shape. We did have to drive about 250 miles, but it was well worth it. We've owned it for more than 2 or 3 years and haven't had any major problems with it, other than trying to fix the outdated air conditioning. Of course, we've owned these vans since 1969, so we kind of knew what to look for, but neither my husband or myself are mechanics. You kind of have to make a gut decision on the honesty of the seller, but you can always have it checked out by a local mechanic in the area you're looking.
