Subject: Exaust Woes- REVISITED
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

Well it seems the drill bit that had settled into a comfortable and warm home where the exaust stud on my engine head used to be has been eliminated. The master mechanics (not the ones that broke the drill bit off in the first place) at my place of business were somehow able to drill out a drill bit, grab it, twist it out, and rebore/tap the hole. All i know is THERE ARE STUDS WHERE THERE SHOULD BE STUDS! AND......the manifold should be back on and it should be running by the time i get there today. I am eagerly awaiting my triumphant return to Busdom.

Ever hear a Vanagon without one of its manifolds on? We started it up to move it......."WOWWWW" sums it up. Like a 12 horsepower lawnmower, and loud. Everyone was laughing.

While the bus is on the lift i noticied two things that will need attention, the outer head gaskets on each head seem to be torn, BUT not having any effect so far. I'm guessing that means i'll have to reseal the engine heads at some point. The other thing is the CV boots need a little love.

My fingers are crossed and my face smiling.

For all those that helped so far, THANKS X 10^24 We shall see......
