Ahhh, the toys we enjoys.

Yesterday, as I was entering the mooring field and jetty where I keep my sailboat, the fellow next to me with a huge Boston Whaler, was describing his boat to someone interested in buying it. I look at the "stuff" adorning his overhead panel and noted a GPS antenna, a Radar, a tv dish of some kind, an antenna he described as being for his stereo system and the useful VHF antenna. I was invited aboard and noticed a very fancy depth/fish They shared their cool beer with me, and I couldn't help but ask if the current owner had taken his boat on the road for some ocean-going fishing - the boat looked also like it was rigged for fishing everything from perch to whales .

The guy said he bought the boat new, ordered all the equipment ... etc ....

I sat there, chuckling inside, realizing the yahoo had spent 10s of thousands of dollars for equipment that is absolutely unnecessary on Lake Champlain which, at its widest is merely 15-17 miles across and where the charts are accurate. A depth and fish-finding piece of gear is appropriate.
