Many years ago I made something like that for my old '55 Chevy panel truck. I used plastic-coated aluminum tubing (about 3/8" OD) that my dad had and I simply bent it to follow the curve of the ceiling, flattened the ends and drilled holes for screws. Cut and hand stitched one of those India-print sheets from Pier 1 and that was it. Groovy, man.
