I pulled out my old Temp 1 sensor which i replaced due to some careless filling of the "nub" (though it still worked). I tested the resistance and found it to be dramatically different than the cheap sensor i used to replace it (The brass was so crappy that it stripped using a proper sized snappon wrench most likely worth more than my car). I plan on getting some vicegrips out tommorow and making the switch and hoping for the best. The average temperature through a few long trips of the "Hot" pipe was 185* and the cool pipe 150*. We shall see. Thanks to everyone whos helped so far. The moral of the story is no vanagon part is ever REALLY "Broken" and should never really be thrown out. You never know when your going to have something "more broken" than what you replaced a while back.

This is why we all need a field of parts vanagons and a warehouse filled with every part one could imagine (perfectly categorized of course). I'll settle for a "Parts Pile".
