Once the fuel tank's replaced on the '90, we want to begin thinking about fixing the a/c for next summer (yes, we're planning way, way ahead). If we're really ambitous, we might try fixing the a/c in the 83... Both vans have strong engines and run well. So, questions: - the '90 is complete but does not cool. Fan, etc... work fine. Besides replacing the condensor / evaporator (they will need to be replaced, right?) what other pieces should I plan on? I don't konw the condition of the compressor. - the '83 has a Behr unit and the compressor is in a box (got the van that way). PO removed it when it lost a charge. I assume the compressor will need replacing, along with the same pieces the '90 gets? Fans, etc... appear to work fine. BIG question: since I don't think I can do this myself, what's the best way to find a qualified shop? Just call around and see if they'll even work on it? There's no rush on this, just trying to get the learning down. We'll prob do the work in the winter / spring. john |
