Folks, thanks for the help. Esp thanks to the curiator of Road Cow, Britt, for his local expertise to the Redding CA area. Thank, man. i o u a beer and an elk steak (if i get one this year...)

Anyways... conclusion- blew a spark plug out. It was not stripped though. 116$ for new wires (had to get all 4), new plugs (replaced all while at it!) and a bit of labor.
