Mike, et al, Don't bother with a used one. If you don't mind a little soldering (or crimping), buy a brand new switch for a late 80's, early 90's Jetta or Golf (VW #:191 959 855) and move your old switches wires over to the new switch. Except for the soldered on wires, the switches are pretty much identical. The Jetta/Golf Window switches cost about $18 brand new. Here's a picture of one I just did. I used 90 degree crimp connectors instead of soldering the wires on. http://www.vanagonparts.com/temp/switch1.jpg http://www.vanagonparts.com/temp/switch2.jpg

No, they aren't all the same. Tha Vanagon use two different window switches and each has different leads/ connectors attached. ( I bought much cheaper ones that don't have the leads soldered onto the male tabs, and made my own leads.) The driver's side-passenger window switch works like a 3-way light switch, to provide the power feed to the passenger side- passenger window switch. If you somehow patch in the wrong type, the passenger window won't work properly. BTDT. Anyone have one? If I get one of those, I'll give you my extra one (it's seems like the one you need).
