The TerryK valve (by the way, you can go to Lowe's and spend $12 for a valve that controls hot water and put it in this same location, accomplish the same thing) shuts off the flow of hot coolant to the heater, that the dash lever seems unable to accomplish. I changed my heater valve (up under the spare tire - a royal PITA to change out without getting totally drenched with coolant... no matter what) and within a few weeks was back to getting hot air in the fresh air vent. Since adding the TK valve I get no hot air, and in fact the fresh air coming in the vents now seems, I say SEEMS cooler than the ambient air? This valve-addition is a blessing for cool feetedness.
