The Engel units are really sweet.. Got to witness this first hand, @ this years SdM. Lucas and Taylor both have them mounted in the passenger 'jump' seat position in their Syncro Westy Weekenders. Wired to a Solar panel on the roof via deep cycle battery, it's a nice setup, with freezer section and all!

In a weekender it works great, in a full on Westy, this sort of arrangement takes up way too much space.

Here's what I'd do if I had the resources/time.

Remove rear heater core.. plumb in a nice propex unit under the rear seat.

Remove the Dometic Fridge, and relocate the water tank to that cabinet space.

Remove the shore power outlet, and modify that rear beside seat cabinet and drop in an Engel there (venting to the outside if possible)

If you wanted to forgo the storage space, you could make it one huge 'drop in' frigde/freezer space.

The Airstream Sprinter Westy's have something like this in them.

I've already got a nice atwood propane RV furnace in that spot (where the useless smal cabinet/shore power outlet is/was?) or I might seriously consider such an option.

Of course, I'd be ruining the value of my van, since we all know it's only worth $6K since now it wouldnt be 'stock'! ;-)
