Warren, as for extra space: I think the biggest waste of space in a 2wd Westy is that large area above and around the transmission where the Syncro fuel tank goes. If you want to start cutting and welding, there is probably space for a couple of batteries. The downside is that it puts more mass in the back and may mess somewhat with the weight distribution. But considering the heavy engines that people put in the back, that may still be tolerable. Lowering the battery box in the wheelwell may get you into tire clearance trouble (think full compression) Have fun, Reinhard
