Subject: Propane Gauge?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed

Ok. Remember when I said I surrender? Damn if those Westies don't have a pull that defies logic.

My beloved and I have decided that, while I am not the one to fix Blue Midget, our fire fried and somewhat dilapidated '80 Westy, we might actually bite the bullet to let others do it for me. So I am collecting estimates right now to get Blue Midget done up reliable and pretty.

You really needed to know that, right? Ok, to the point. The shut- off valve for my propane tank is broken (handle broke off) so as part of my repairs, I am going to at least repair that. But with that repair, does anyone know of a pressure or level gauge that can be added to this model Westy so I can see the propane level I have? Since it is a low volume tank, I am not sure if anyone has had any luck with a gauge like this.

I'll let you know what I decide on the repair after I get the rest of my estimates. It is going to be *a lot* of money to do, but relative to the cost of a newer vehicle with less miles, it is still probably cheaper to repair this one. The jury is still out on that. Right now I know one body shop has an estimate of $3500 for all the rust repair and paint, plus $675 from an upholstery shop to redo the shredding rear seat and fallen ceiling liners. I am waiting for another body shop estimate, and sometime next week I should get a mechanical repair estimate, as the mechanic I want to use has, um, yeah, taken off to Sturgis. *sigh

David '80 Westy currently in limbo
