<P>Just a thought: use something, like rubber or fabric-faced wood under the rack "feet" that rest on the hatch. This will disperse the weight and also not ebrade the paint Likely the pressure of the rack feet will hold the wood "shim" in place under the feet. Rubber might work best ... like bike inner tubes.</P>
