Yakima makes fake gutters; Thule does, also. Be sure to use a broad metal backing plate inside the poptop to distribute the stress. My Yakima gutters with Quik-N-Easy clamps have been in place since '89 - never an issue (and I haul big canoes). Yakima and Thule make modern solutions for hauling gear.
