this is definitely the best upgrade i've ever done. boulder muffler put in a stainless magnaflow, to replace the aging stock vanagon muff. it sounds righteous, and i feel like i got a couple extra horses out of the deal.

You probably did if it was a higher flow muffler. I recently did a similar thing. A new stainless steel muffler made locally for the waterboxer that is very well made, very shiny :-) and has a higher flow than the original. Immediately I noticed the van rev out a little easier (and not because the original muffler was clogged - it wasn't, it had just reached it use-by date after 15 years ) and just a little more grunt seemed to be available. Price was about the same as OEM which is still available here in Oz but with the aftermarket one, the ss tailpipe came with the package, not an extra at additional cost as was the case with the original VW one (and it wasn't as shiny either ;-)
