Subject: Sliding window refurbish
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Dear listmembers, the sliding windows on my 83 Westy need work. The guide pieces have fallen out, the felt seals are toast, and the frame in the sliding door needs a rust treatment. My plan is to take the whole window assembly out, fix the rust and refurbish the sliding window with new seals to stop rattles and noise. Any advice on how to do this (tips and tricks) and sources for the felt seals are highly welcome. Can the sliding window be separated from the rest of the assembly? I could not find out a way to do that. I also could not figure out how to put the upper rubber channel / seal for the sliding part back in. Is there an upgraded, better sliding window assembly that you can recommed as a replacement? Thanks Reinhard 83 "Half-Syncro" Westy, Moose.
