Woo hoo! My first big project. Well, big may be overstating it a bit. It is going very well so far. I spent the last half hour of light and on into the dark getting it up in the air, draining coolant and oil, and removing the exhaust. I got a new tailpipe from Van Cafe along with my gasket set and you know what? They threw in some cookies! Of course, those were gone pretty quick. Anyway, I soaked the exhaust hardware in penetrant first thing and everything came of well after letting it sit. Except. In trying to remove the old rusty tailpipe I managed to shear a bolt so I am going to heat the others before trying again. Also, I couldn't get the 6mm plugs out of the heads to drain them of coolant. Any tricks? Seems as though my allen socket is about to round them out so I don't want to push it to hard. The other thing is, I only have an aircooled manual so I don't know the torque for the head bolts or the tightening sequence. So if anyone wants to scan that page of the bentley or explain it here, I'd be hugely appreciative. Wish me luck!
