Yakima makes the faux gutters, but I'm not sure if that's what GoWesty sells or not. check ebay for some used ones and use stainless steel bolts and hardware to install them. I would think a properly engineered backing plate would help relieve any stress to the figerglass Westy top or at best spread the load out a bit.
