It is really much easier to pull the pistons than to try and use ring
compressors in the hole.

The trick is to use Carb cleaner to soften the old oil varnish on the  piston
pin bore.
than they will usually slide right out . a little heat works wonders too  but
be careful going between heat and  carb cleaner.

They are not press fit ,  new ones go together with your hands
