$2.32/oz in fact.

I just spoke to the AC shop says they charge a fixed 30% markup, and had bought a bunch of R134 months ago when prices were very high, and are passing that cost onto the customer. Since the vangon takes a ton of it of course the $ difference is noticeable.

I'm not sure I agree with this philosophy (it sounds essentially like the AC shop was speculating on R134 futures and got burned when the price dropped) but at least the owner offered to give me a better deal next time considering the situation.

Of course, next time I may just go to flaps and buy a DIY kit at those prices... :-)
