Good to know about flywheel and about plate options in terms of mounting holes. This is becoming clearer, and certainly helps with conversion choices. In terms of DIY, maybe Suby isn't mega-more than a 50 deg. VW I4. Pretty sure the 15 degree I4 would be cheapest given that one doesn't need the diesel oil pan etc. Basically just the adapter plate, flywheel, mounts/carriers, and muffler. (not to mention donor car, spare engine lid to play with and possibly a 1.8 head) I"m hoping it will become clear as to which is the best $$ choice for a van that isn't a "prize" body wise. Will save "doing it right" for a rust free van, but having a van with more power is imperative. Hmm......
