Volks, Just returned from a 4993 mile trip from AZ to PA & back. Met up with Maggie Dew in Little rock and traveled with her most of the way. Purpose of the trip: do a Roll Your OWN install OF a Subie 2.2L EJ22 in the roadhaus with lots of help from Dave Milo & Maggie. Total miles: 4993 Trip out ... stock 2.1L water boxer - Ran fine - Average speed 55-62mph - Average MPG: 16.47 Trip back was with a Subie 2.2L EJ22 engine - Breaking the engine in so took it easy. - Ran perfect - Average speed varied from 45, 55, 65 and 70 mph - Average MPG: 18.06 86/87 octane gas costs Highest $2.54 somewhere in Tx Lowest $3.34 somewhere in Tx Total gas cost: $898.80 Great trip with a stopover in NC for the High Country Bus Festival. Got to see lots of old friends .. met a few new ones and had a ball. Weather ... HOT everywhere. Either Hot & Humid or Hot & Dry. Comments: Installed a CCR Rebuilt 2.2L EJ22 Subie in PA Took 7 days and lots of work but thanks to Dave Milo, his family and Maggie it was a total blast. Fired up first try on day 4 and was running smooth within 5 minutes. Still breaking her in ...
