Subject: Appraiser in So. Cal or Massachusetts?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi,

After 8 years with my unpredictable and now rusty 83-1/2 Westy, I'm upgrading to a carefully restored 1990 Westy. I'm not rich and this is a really big expense for me, and if something bad should happen to it I don't want to lose my shirt.

So, I've asked my agent about doing a "stated value" policy. The agent seems OK with this, meaning I can buy insurance for what an appraiser says the camper is worth (not what I paid, or say it's worth).

So now I want to get an appraisal from by an appraiser who has at least some understanding of the true value of the vehicle. I'm buying it near San Luis Obispo, CA and driving it back to Boston. I'd love to have coverage for the trip but I can live with coverage based on Blue Book value until I get back.

Any recommendations for Vanagon-savvy appraisers?

I did read the following and learned a lot, tho it's really about collecting, not getting appraised well:

Thanks, George
