Hey

I've been a lurker and occasional contributor for a while now, and just wanted to let my new neighbors know that we are a recent addition to the vanagon population in Western MA. I just moved to Florence with my 1987 Syncro. It's dirty white, fairly raggedy looking. Home made 2x4 roofrack.

Wave or honk if you see us.

And tell me where in the neighborhood to get parts and help.

I just had a vanagon adventure. Rushing to get through MA inspection so I could use the van last weekend to take advantage of the tax free weekend and buy furniture. Up at 5 AM, oil change. drive to pump up leaky lifter, adjust parking brake, fix windshield sprayer switch. 9 AM Saturday morning at the inspection station so I could be first in line when they open at 10. Passed with no trouble, despite my concerns. Coming from CA, I figured I'd pass emissions, but CA has no safety inspection, so I feared what they might find.

Happily went home with my sticker to collect wife and kids to go furniture shopping. 2 miles from home engine dies, won't restart (maybe you saw us on the side of Old Wilson Rd, just off Florence Rd). Nice day for a walk. Home to get the Suzuki and a rope to tow the van home (yes I know that's not the preferred method, but it was the available method).

Bad Hall sensor.... Buy one locally, or save $50 and wait a week. Van sits in the garage waiting.

I love my van, but thank goodness for Japanese cars. Always there for backup.

Furniture we wanted was order only, so we paid, saved the sales tax, and can pick up later once the van is running again. All is well

Another happy day in the life of a Vanagon owner.

Ray
