I'm no computer expert, but if one right clicks once on a program icon, the down under properties, the in the next window under the "compatibility" tag, one can set a program to run as windows XP, and can run as an Administrator. Not sure if you want to do this, but it's offered as a FWIW.

As I see an .EDU in your e-address, I'd assume that your University computer folks could help. M (no computer expert, but a frustrated VISTA user)
