FWIW, Last weekend, I removed the 3 copper nuts on the connection between the cat & the muffler to put in a gasket which was missing. I had installed the nuts a couple of months ago when I discovered all the nuts loose & no gasket left, & I didn't have one available. Finally got the gasket, & the 1st copper nut I tried to remove, snapped off when I tried to loosen it w/ a 1/4" socket.

The other nuts came off fairly easily, so don't know why 1 failed after a short time.

YMMV,

Tom B.-nuts to the copper nuts?
