And of course there is a 3rd fan mod -- adding the little fan inside the fridge to circulate air and improve cooling. I believe that really helps.

BTW - living near Tucson I found I had to add a switch to control the stock fridge fan as on a hot day even with the fridge off that fan would run constantly. I suppose if the sun is shining on the D/S that area was just getting hot enough to trigger the thermoswitch for that fan.
