Subject: "Simpler is better"? Yep.

I go along with the basic premise. After having a long "Love/Hate" relationship with a very complex machine (A Porsche 928) one with doubly-redundant redundantancies and warning systems that were broken more often than actually right, I looked long and hard to find the simplest van I could. I love the fact that there are so few things that break or don't work properly without constant fiddling... I went the empty van route to begin with, planning on adding whatever I needed as I needed it. After some time and a few trips, some looking around and some consideration, I bought, used, an interior from a westie and installed only what I wanted, mainly because I got the whole interior, with everything working for $350! I couldn't even buy the materials for that, let alone a sink, stove and water system that went into my GL in about one day's labor... So I have just the stuff on the drivers side wall and the fold down bed, and that is plenty for extended camping for me...Oh, just today I installed the old stereo out of my Porsche 928...but I left out the aux. amp and about half the speakers and crossovers and telephone antennas and and and... Roll up windows, no AC, Inline 4 motor, no rear wiper, no top.. Pretty simple...but a bit more than just a sleeping pad and a cooler...yeah.. Don Hanson
