Second the comments on 'as far back as possible'. I have a rocket box and with that on top it 'must' be empty in order to pop the top

Have found more and more that we leave the box @ home & just use the Gary Lee rack 4 bikes and the front cargo / luggage area for the extra camping stuff. My fake gutter brkts are on 34" centers. It will be a day or so (out of town for work @ the moment) but I can take some measurements & send to you
