While you have that grille off and you're staring right at the connector for the fan wires you might consider this: I wired my fan for manual overide using a VW fog-light switch mounted in an unused rectangular opening in the upper right corner of the instrument panel. Those switches are 2 position so I can turn the fan on low or high whenever I want it. Why on earth? We do a lot of mountain driving and sometimes you're lookin' at a 10,000' pass 12 miles ahead and know the fan will kick on as you climb the grade so to me it makes sense to give it a head start when you can see what's coming.
