I want to thank those who guided me on my path to purchase a used lat model Eurovan to replace my Honda Element (which I still haven't sold).

Pictures can be seen at http://mywebhopserver.feddishbasses.com:81/vw/eurovan.html

I crammed allot of research over the last couple of weeks and decided on a 2001 to 2003 MV model. The 2001+ models had the 60+ horsepower gain over the earlier years and have the ESP. I also wanted a vehicle with less than 60K miles on it (I'm replacing a Honda with 40K and I don't want a divorce) so that really thinned out my search. What I discovered is that there were four Eurovan models made that had the following current used car prices: Full camper: $40K, MV Weekender: $26K, MV: $19K and GLS $17K. These prices seem to be the standard set price regardless of mileage. I also determined that I would have to travel quite a distance to purchase the vehicle. I'm not the type to buy site-unseen off eBay and have it shipped so that narrowed that down to about 150 mile radius from my house. Sure, it would be cool to have an MV Weekender but they are literally $7K more than an MV. That's twice the markup these things costs new. The full campers are the same price as they were when they were new.

Anyway, I got lucky; I found a van an hour and a half away with 57K miles on it and a really cool color. After fighting off CA buyers that wanted to pay more than the asking price and have it shipped I actually got it. It even has a sunroof. I'm loving this thing. 20 years after my first VW Bus I've got power and air conditioning. :)

My 3 year old got in it and said "Daddy, I like this campy van allot more than the old one." Ouch, that hurt.

Bryan
