Subaru automatic tranny's have a history of blowing up.

That's good for us VW folks, you can often get a used Legacy/Outback that "needs a new transmission" for a great price...a wonderful situation since you don't use the Subaru tranny for the transplant anyway.

Buy the whole donor subaru, take your time and strip out everything you need, sell anything left if you can, then send it to the crusher...
