TRy using the GUNK as you do, but use a self service car wash spray wand on it. YOur engine will look great. After it is dry spray the entire engine with clear engine paint. It will look even better. I use a special chemical solution and my pressure washer, witch will take the paint off of brick. This has done damage, so be careful.
