$3000 is much more realistic for a usable intact 1.8T, than $1500. Just checkout car-part.com most of the 1.8T in the $1500 range are incomplete, cores, or high enough miles to not be worth it. Not to say there aren't good deals here and there, but $1500 in certainly not the norm for a conversion candidate.
