If the van is stationary and you get crashing going into first gear than the problem is most likely the clutch is not fully releasing. If you are only getting crashing while the van is moving it can also be a bad Syncro or hub or something else internal.

A question for the tranny gurus. My syncro first gear will intermittently grind. No warning of this and sometimes will go for days without it happening. Recently replaced clutch master cylinder, could a bubble in the fluid cause this or is it a bum syncronizer? Thanks Rick
