FWIW, I think SD's point was that Vanagon 1 is not a Westfalia either.
There's no such thing as a Westfalia without a pop-top. Lots of non-Westy
Vanagons came with Z-beds, tables, and rear facing seats.

The primary confusion seems to come from the two uses of the term
"weekender". One westy model was called the "Westfalia Weekender", which had
a pop-top but no kitchen cabinetry. Some early Vanagons were sold with an
added "weekender" package, which added a Z-bed in back, among other things.
THis "weekender" package had nothing to do with Westfalia.
