It is turned on during school traffic hours, when children are in the street. It is set up to remind people to slow down to 25 mph. However, it stays on for quite a while. It is turned on before kids are out and people simply zoom, zoom... through when there are no kids. The sign is about 300 yards beyond an intersection. People tend to speed through it. The sign will show numbers above 50 from time to time. I know a fact that there is such a sign there but no cops. The sign is pretty much used as a speed calibration tool as a result. I know when it says 41 my speedometer will indeed show slightly above 40. Quite accurate around 40. The number will appear before you pass it. It wants you to see your speed. It has to show it before passing it. It is a semi permanent installation hung on a post on the side of the street. David
